Travel for me offers freedom, growth, healing, education, and an opportunity to effect change.
To appreciate my passion for travel, I need to take you back to my early years traversing the African continent. I was born in Tanzania, spent my formative years criss-crossing Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana, then moved to South Africa to pursue higher education and later establish my dream career. Travel has been the cornerstone of my life, fostering a profound, soul-deep appreciation for the people on this continent—their kindness, resilience, humor, and deep connection to each other and the earth. Among the many relationships I've forged, a common thread weaves through shared experiences of food, adventure, and ubuntu.
In 2011, I founded Peku Peku with a clear mission: to empower people, especially Africans, to blaze a trail. Their trail, in their own way. I aimed to demystify travel. I wanted everyone I knew to own a passport and feel empowered to explore. I am convinced the more we travel, the more borders we cross, the more we meet people who are different from us - the more we grow in love. Love for others and love for ourselves. My goal in founding Peku Peku was to make travel accessible for Africans and to reshape the global narrative about Africa, highlighting its essence as well as its natural wonders. Once touched by Africa, its magic leaves an indelible mark.
As Peku Peku has evolved I have supported many African brothers and sisters to explore their own continent and have enabled clients from abroad to fulfill their African travel dreams. I have supported local and global organizations to travel and host events throughout the continent and I have listened as clients - especially women - have called for greater support to undertake travel that heals, that fosters well-being, and combats burnout and exhaustion. And, while my foremost passion lies in curating unforgettable African travel experiences, I am increasingly excited to assist clients to blaze a trail on other continents.
