On 25 October 2024, a movie is coming to Amazon Prime: “Soft Love”. A love story. A story that celebrates the differences in cultures and the challenges of falling in love with someone from a different country. It’s a tale as old as time…
Once in a while, we have the opportunity to work on projects that leave us with a warm fuzzy feeling in our hearts.
On the surface of it, we offer travel services. But when you interrogate the information there is soooo much more. We offer a fixer service. We partner with you to remove the hassle of travel logistics so that you can do what you do best: in this case – make a movie.
The movie was shot on location in Cape Town and Lagos. The cast and crew are Nigerian and South African. At the heart of it was a tight schedule and a mere 16 days of filming, spread across Cape Town and Lagos.
Getting visas, accommodation, transfers, car rental – these were just some of the services required. There was a time pressure. But, the passion and desire to make this movie was a driving force.
The movie premier was held in Lagos, Nigeria on 23 October. The set was designed by the fabulous Ifan Ifeanyi Michael. I had the priviledge of attending the event. It was a glitzy, glamourous, and fun affair. The Consul General (C.G), Mr Bobby Moore made a passionate speech reminding us of the collaboration and love that should exist between these two great nations. He reminded us that South Africa is open to doing business with Nigerians. Perceptions on social media around Nigerian-South African relations are usually negative, Soft Love, shines a light on thr positive, and the C.G was quick to point this out.
The screening of the moving brought spontaneous laughter, oohs and aaahs in the room as we watched the main characters straddle the “divide” created by society, to try and find a way to be together.
It was a beautiful evening, it made me so proud to be part of a group of people who helped to ensure a beautiful idea came to life.
Watch "Soft Love", on Amazon Prime from 25 October 2024. The movie Is Directed by Holmes Awa and written by Paballo Molingoane. It features: Cindy Mahlangu, Efa Iwara, Rosemary Zimu, Genoveva Umeh, Dorcas Shola Fapson & Carol King.
All I can say is, premiers are fun! An important occasion to celebrate the extreme amount of work needed to finally get a movie ready for public consumption.
